While my husband was out of town for work, I brought a cake to visit his best friend’s widow, fully expecting her to be deep in grief. But the exact moment that front door opened, my jaw absolutely dropped… PART 3

“Exactly.”

By four that afternoon, I returned home.

Julian’s car was still in the driveway.

Two suitcases stood near the stairs, but he was sitting at the kitchen island with a glass in his hands.

“You cannot throw me out of our home,” he said.

“It is my home,” I replied. “And you were told to leave an hour ago.”

He suddenly became angry.

“I had nowhere to go. Chloe is stressed, and that stress could harm my baby.”

“Your baby?”

“Yes,” he snapped. “The heir my family has been waiting for. You could not give me one, so I found another way.”

I removed the fertility report from my coat and placed it in front of him.

Julian froze.

“You promised you destroyed those records.”

“I lied,” I said. “Just as you lied when you claimed you were working late. Just as you lied about this business trip.”

He stared at the results.

“Doctors can make mistakes. Chloe said the baby is mine.”

“Then she should have no objection to a legally supervised paternity test.”

I informed him that Arthur had already filed for divorce, requested exclusive use of the house and begun freezing the relevant accounts.

Julian sank onto the stool.

“If my mother or the company board sees this, I will lose everything.”

“You began losing everything when you confused my patience with weakness.”

The doorbell rang.

Two officers were waiting outside with the court order granting me temporary exclusive occupancy.

For the first time in years, Julian looked at me without seeing a silent, obedient wife.

He saw the woman who held the records, the property documents and the power to dismantle the life he had built with my money.

He collected his suitcases and left.

PART 3 — THE HEIR WHO WAS NEVER HIS

The legal collapse of Julian’s carefully constructed life took less than four months.

Six weeks after our confrontation, the paternity results arrived.

The probability that Julian was Chloe’s baby’s biological father was zero.

Chloe had been involved with another man before beginning her relationship with Julian. After her husband’s death, she recognised Evelyn’s desperation for a family heir and used it to secure financial support.

Julian provided her with a luxury apartment, monthly payments and medical expenses because he believed she was carrying his child.

Evelyn had welcomed Chloe into the family without asking for proof.

When she received the paternity report, her dream of a grandson collapsed overnight.

She stopped answering Chloe’s calls and withdrew from the social circles where she had proudly announced the coming heir.

The humiliation spread quickly.

The child she had defended was not connected to her family at all.

The financial audit revealed something even more serious.

I came home earlier than expected and found my wife, eight months pregnant, kneeling on the marble floor, weeping uncontrollably as my mother asked her to wash her feet. “This house belongs to my children, not you,” she said. PART 3
