The Billionaire Let His Mistress Kick His Pregnant Wife In Court—But He Didn’t Know The Judge Had Been Waiting Twenty-Eight Years For This Moment – usnews PART 2

Because they were rehearsed.

I could almost hear Marcus in them.

First wife.

First baby.

First obstacle.

I rested my hand on my belly.

“Move.”

She smiled.

“Or what?”

Paul Haskins took one step closer.

Marcus saw him.

Savannah did not.

She leaned in, blocking my path with her body, and when I tried to step around her, she shifted her heel and drove the pointed toe of her shoe into the lower side of my stomach.

Not a stumble.

Not an accident.

A quick little kick hidden by her handbag and the angle of her coat.

But the pain folded through me.

My breath vanished.

The water fountain blurred.

My hand flew to the wall.

Marcus saw enough.

Not all.

Enough.

For one raw second, his face changed.

Not with concern.

With calculation.

Witnesses.

Camera.

Risk.

Then he made his choice.

He looked at Savannah and said, “Careful.”

Careful.

Not sorry.

Not stop.

Careful.

The young mother on the bench gasped.

Paul was already moving.

Claire came out of the courtroom at a run.

“Emily!”

Savannah stepped back, eyes wide now, mouth open in perfect innocence.

“She bumped me.”

Marcus moved between us.

“She’s fine,” he said.

I straightened slowly.

The pain was sharp, but not spreading.

No fluid.

No blood.

My daughter rolled once, furious and alive.

I breathed.

Once.

Twice.

Three times.

Then I looked at Paul.

“I want that entered.”

Paul’s face was stone.

“Yes, ma’am.”

Marcus said, “Entered where?”

I turned back toward the courtroom.

“On the record.”

That was why we were all standing in front of the bench again.

That was why my ring lay under the table.

That was why Savannah was still smiling too hard.

Because she thought money could make physics uncertain.

She thought if her lawyer found the right phrase, a kick became contact, contact became confusion, confusion became nothing.

She had no idea my father had built an entire career on dragging truth back into rooms where powerful people tried to rename it.

Judge Whitmore looked at Deputy Haskins.

“Deputy, state what you observed.”

Paul stepped forward.

“I observed Ms. Cross obstruct Mrs. Vale’s path near the hallway fountain. Mrs. Vale attempted to move around her. Ms. Cross made deliberate contact with her right foot to Mrs. Vale’s abdomen.”

Savannah’s face went white.

“That’s not true.”

My father’s eyes snapped to her.
