THE SERGEANT DIDN’T KNOW WHO WAS STANDING IN FRONT OF HIM

Sarah understood one thing immediately.

This wasn’t the first time.

“Sergeant,” Sarah said quietly, “you demanded money from this driver without showing any legal reason. You threatened to take his vehicle without cause. And you put your hands on him.”

Tom’s expression changed slightly.

“You were watching?”

“Yes.”

“And you think you know the law better than me?”

Sarah took a small step forward.

“I know enough to recognize misconduct.”

The officers behind Tom exchanged quick looks.

For the first time, they seemed uncertain.

Tom noticed.

His confidence began to crack.

“You have no idea who you’re talking to.”

Sarah almost smiled.

That sentence was something she had heard many times.

People who abused power often believed their position made them untouchable.

They forgot one important thing.

A badge was not a shield from accountability.

It was a responsibility.

Tom pointed at her.

“Move aside. This is official police business.”

Sarah looked at the taxi driver.

Then she looked back at Tom.

“No. This is personal harassment disguised as police work.”

The street became tense.

One of Tom’s officers quietly whispered:

“Sergeant, maybe we should just let this one go.”

Tom immediately turned around.

“What did you say?”

The young officer froze.

“I said… maybe there’s been a misunderstanding.”

Tom’s face hardened.

“You questioning me now?”
